Tax receipts
In January, select the prior year and generate. Receipts build from recorded payments, less any refunds. Each refund of a credit also comes off the receipt, in the year that money went back. Credits applied to invoices lower what the family owed and are not payments, so they are not on the receipt. Overpaid money moved between a family’s invoices is not a payment either: each payment counts once, on the receipt of the parent whose invoice it was paid on. When money went back, the receipt shows the payments received and each kind of refund above the total.
For one family, open the child’s Billing tab and click Tax receipt under Payments. It keeps the receipt number already issued.
When the parents pay separately (Split billing, 3.12), each parent gets their own receipt in their own name, sent to the email on their invoices.
Chase outstanding payments first. A payment recorded after generation belongs to the year it was paid, and late recording understates the family’s receipt.
Spot-check a few families against their payment history, then export the CSV.
