Temporarily moving a child to another home
Use a temporary placement when a child spends a stretch of days at a different provider home. The base home is closed, the provider is away, or the family needs cover.
Pick the covering home, the start date, and an end date. Leave the end date empty for open-ended cover, then use End today when the child returns.
While the placement is active, the covering home is paid for the child’s days, appears on the parent invoice, and its provider sees the child in their portal. The base home does not, for that window. Today’s attendance counts the child at the covering home, and safe arrival expects them there.
Closures apply per home. A closure at the base home does not credit a day the child spent at the covering home, and a closure at the covering home does.
The parent invoice notes who cared for the child and when, so families are never surprised by an unfamiliar home name.
Do not change the child’s base home for temporary cover. That field is for permanent moves only.
